Schools

WP4 involves the design and coordination of a thematic summer school for in-depth training of experts and young scientists in the two topics of interface thermodynamics and interface atomistics.  The lectures during the summer school will be based on 20-minute introductions to each topic for young scientists, followed by 40 minutes of description of state-of-the-art knowledge.
Each lecture will then be followed by a structured (moderated) discussion lasting approximately one hour.  Between these extended presentations by experts, young scientists would be given the opportunity to present their work in order to obtain feedback from leading world experts.  In addition, extended lectures on methods will be presented, to promote understanding between the thermodynamic-oriented groups and the atomistic-oriented research groups.

The MACAN summer school will be held in Leoben, Austria in July 2011.
